Port la Nouvelle

Port la Nouvelle in the summer season is a popular beach area on the D709 off of the main N9 road. It is home to approximately 5,000 residents and also a working commercial port for petro-chemicals and cement though this area is not near the beach area. There are lots of cafes and restaurants all along the sea front, too many to list here and a couple of small hotels and lots of rental properties. Obviously for the coast fish is widely available with mussels on every restaurants menu. There is plenty of car parking spaces right along the edge of the clean wide beach and a motorized train like vehicle which runs along the sea front, mainly for the children. In the market square during the summer there is a very small fair ground and some snack stalls and in the evenings they have live entertainment; bands and other acts. At one end of the beach is a small lighthouse which you can walk out to and where lots of people take their rods in the hope of catching some fish.
