Lezignan Corbieres

Lezignan-Corbieres is on the N113 off of the N9 west of Narbonne before Carcassonne. Lezignan has been producing wine since the Roman times and today still plays a small part in the wine making industry. There is an interesting exhibition focusing on the modern wine business that has brought prosperity to the countryside since the nineteenth century, at the Musee de la Vigne et du Vin (Open Daily 9am-noon & 2pm-7pm € 3.81). There is a tourist office (July & August Monday-Saturday 9am-9pm, Sunday 10am-noon. September-June Monday-Friday 10am-noon&3pm-6pm, 04 68 27 05 42, www.tourisme-lezignan@wanadoo.fr) situated at 9 Cours de la Republique. There are a good choice of shops in Lezignan and hotels if you decide to stay the night, the best being the Tassigny on rond-point de Lattre-de-Tassigny 04 68 27 67 31 www.logis-de-france.fr with clean rooms and good amenities.
