Cider Boiled Ham

1.5kg (3lb) Ham or Gammon

1.1lt (2 pints) Cider

1 Carrot, halved

1 Onion, halved

4 tbsp Toasted Breadcrumbs

Place the ham, carrot, onion and cider into a large saucepan.

Bring to the boil, skim the surface as needed.

Reduce the heat to low, cover and simmer for 1? hours (or 25 minutes per 450g (1lb)).

Remove from the heat and allow the ham to cool in the liquid.

When the liquid is cold, remove the ham.

Skin the ham, press the breadcrumbs into the skinned side.
